about

"In April 2016 the boys and I drove out to the beautiful little town of St Albans NSW, about 100kms north west of Sydney, to play at the annual folk festival they have there. We found the town to have a certain enchanting quality, unlike any where else we had been on our travels. Very remote, only accessible by the Wisemans Ferry crossing, and surrounded on all sides by misty mountains. The setting sent me into a spin of heady nostalgia. The song St Albans, came from the escapism the town had to offer, following my own relationship troubles and inspired by the stories of my friends going through similar breakups at the time. The pieces seemed to fall into place."

Fun fact: at the 2011 census, St Albans and the surrounding area had a population of 305 people

"When we got to the studio in Byron Bay, 'St Albans' was my newest song, and it was all I wanted to do. Then we ended putting a few more songs down, a couple of covers, and an other original of mine called 'Big River', which is sort of the opposite of 'St Albans' in that it's about coming back home to your loved ones. Home for me now is where the Wilson River meets Leycester Creek, Lismore."
- Ben

This EP was recorded in Byron Bay, at the SAE Institute, on the 30th of September 2016. Tracked live with minimal overdubs, featuring boys from The Button Collective and The Job Seekers.

Track Name: St Albans
I left you last early spring
but I was back by the Autumn
I went hard to pain the numb
well I was mad for the boredom

and I learnt a lot from you
do you think thats true?
and I'm going to St Albans
to see whats left of me

I left you in my head
anyway I'm better off instead
but you caught me in my company
not a thing you should have had to see

and I contemplated you
and what now I should do
and I'm going to St Albans
to see whats you and whats me

I left you to and put to bed
any doubts I lay to rest
but I dont like what I have found
All I needed was the common ground

and I run away from you
to try and find the truth
and Im leaving St Albans
to see if you'll see me
